There’s nothing new about the concept of people popping an important question to the love of their life, but every story is enough to make you cry. Hilary Duff’s version is also one that could tug your heartstrings.
Just before Christmas, the former Disney child star wed musician Matthew Koma, whom she shares 14-month-old child Banks with, in an intimate ceremony at their home in Los Angeles. Hillary walked down the aisle with her baby girl as the teary-eyed guests seated in a U-shape arrangement that was meant to mimic a hug, stared.

So as you now know, Hilary rang in the new year as a Mrs., which is a pretty nice way to welcome 2020. But did you know that the story behind the proposal is as magical as the scenic wedding celebrations?
Apparently, the simple yet romantic proposal happened one day in New York. At the time, Hilary was still doing a TV show and had just gotten home from a long, tiring day.
Suddenly, the record producer came up to her and asked her to go on a walk with him to catch up because she had been busy. So, get out and walk they did at a breathtaking Dumbo park.
Matthew then went on to say that he was working something for her, which she will love. He took out a book filled with illustrations and inside jokes from when they started dating.

Little did she know that at the back page, behind an orange illustration that she needed to tug, was her engagement ring. (The What Dreams Are Made Off singer said they call each other half-orange, so you will get an idea why there was the fruit there).
This happened in May 2019 and he popped the question with a cushion-cut diamond ring with a center stone about three to four carats. An expert estimated the band to cost between $40,000 and $80,000.
While recounting how the special moment happened, Hillary couldn’t help but become teary. She further said that it was just simple but was reflective of how plain yet special their life is.

Matthew and Hilary first met while she was busy working with her Breathe In. Breathe Out album that was released in 2015. He produced some tracks from her creation and they even ended up having lunch together.
However, there was nothing special yet because they met strictly for work purposes. But once they talked about things outside what they do, she suddenly realized that he was funny – hence, their friendship was born.
