Any parent would know that there’s nothing more heartbreaking than to see their child suffer. Worse is the thought of knowing you can’t do anything about it but to only be there for your bundle of joy.
Famous magician Criss Angel knows exactly how this feels as his 5-year-old son with ex-wife Shaunyl Benson battles cancer. The father is not shying away from this health problem that his family is sadly facing since the boy was a baby and even shares the journey on his social media.
Criss Angel is known for his extreme magic tricks
A day after Christmas is the perfect time to eat leftovers from last night and visit loved ones, but while most people were doing this, Criss was at a hospital for his son Johnny Crisstopher’s chemotherapy.
One photo the illusionist shared was his son on a hospital bed, seemingly mad and with a tube on his chest. Criss said that indeed, the boy was sad and angry.

Another picture showed the duo cuddling on the bed, as the child looked irritated as his dad gave a peck on his cheek. Shaunyl was also giving updates about the process and gave a little background on what has been happening.
The mother explained that Johnny has been battling the big C for three years already and that he was diagnosed with leukemia when he was just 18 months old. Since then, this sight had become the norm for the family.
She went on to show just how this illness affects children by saying that a child is diagnosed with cancer every two minutes and in five kids who have it, one won’t make it.
It was just a few years ago when the family learned that Johnny has leukemia. In December, Criss regrettably informed everyone that they were going back to the hospital because of cancer’s remission.

Last year, the magician whose real name is Christopher Nicholas Sarantakos, revealed during a show in Las Vegas how hard it is for him as a parent to see his child undergo through all this ordeal. Criss also noted how he now sees the situation from two different perspectives – he used to perform magic tricks for sick children and now, he has an ill son.
He also noted how this was difficult for Johnny, who, like others, should have been worried about toys and not the treatments he will have. Criss also previously spoke about how he should be the one suffering and not his son.
