Since weddings are becoming outrageously popular, we thought you might be interested to see some celebrity couples from the golden years on their wedding days. While you can catch a glimpse of old school wedding ceremonies, you can also explore the stunning dresses worn by the brides of the yesteryear. Let’s start!
Audrey Hepburn & Mel Ferrer, 1954
Audrey Hepburn was a British actress who was one of the best screen legends of the Golden Age of Hollywood. The award-winning actress went on to star in films like Sabrina, The Nun’s Story, and Breakfast at Tiffany’s, among numerous others.
After meeting Mel Ferrer at a cocktail party, Hepburn fell in love and married him in September 1954. They married in Bürgenstock, Switzerland, with Hepburn wearing a Pierre Balmain dress. The couple struggled to have a child as many of her pregnancies ended in miscarriages. Fortunately, they managed to birth a son in 1960.
Diana Ross & Arne Næss Jr., 1986
Many of you may already know Diana Ross as the lead singer of The Supremes, one of the best-selling girl groups in history. Later in life, she pursued a solo career and attempted acting, both of which were very successful.
Pictured above is a perfectly content Ross on the day of her second wedding in 1986. She met the Norwegian entrepreneur and shipping magnate Arne Næss Jr. in 1985. They were married for 14 years, and while both Ross and Arne Næss Jr. had three children each from previous relationships, the two had two more kids of their own.
Elizabeth Taylor & Michael Wilding, 1952
Here we have another one of Elizabeth Taylor’s many husbands, Michael Wilding. He was a British actor who had a career as an extra and playing support roles until the lead role in Dear Octopus gave him the breakthrough he was longing for.
Contrary to her first wedding, Taylor’s wedding with Wilding was only a small ceremony held at Caxton Hall in 1952. They had two sons together, but since Wilding was 20 years older, as the years went by, Taylor lost her interest in her second husband. After announcing their separation in 1956, the two divorced a year later.
