When average folks achieve celebrity status, fame and recognition become a given. With stardom, though, comes money. After that, can you guess what comes next? Mansions, cars, and all sorts of expensive buys, of course! It’s the case today, and decades ago, during the Golden Age of Hollywood, it was no different.
Many of you might want to catch a glimpse of the places where Hollywood’s royalty ended up after their hectic workdays. Well, we have here what must be the best collection of vintage celebrity houses from the days of the yesteryear. Surely, your interest is now piqued, so let’s get going!
Marilyn Monroe’s Home In Beverly Hills
Marilyn Monroe is among the few celebrities from the Golden Age of Hollywood, who is recognized by today’s generation. If you ask us, we think it’s mainly because of her breathtaking appearance. The world-famous actress and model could’ve reached much greater heights if not for her short-lived life.
During the year that she was with her second husband, Monroe found comfort in a Beverly Hills home—not too big, not too small. The house located in Palm Drive is also referred to as the couple’s “honeymoon home.” According to The Hollywood Reporter, Monroe also often stayed at The Beverly Hills Hotel, particularly during renovations and breaks when switching husbands.
Bing Crosby’s Home In Toluca Lake
Having worked with Bob Hope for a very long time, Bing Crosby went on to build a house and settle down close to his friend. Although he moved to this fancy home in 1936, the excitement was short-lived. A huge housefire in 1943 forced Crosby to sell the property.
While he moved on to a new neighborhood, television personality Andy Griffith bore ownership to the house in the ’70s. Both Mickey Dolenz and Jerry Van Dyke (Dick Van Dyke’s brother) are also said to have resided in the 7,711 square-foot mansion. As it was worth around $4 million back in 2011, we assume the price has only skyrocketed since then.
Bette Davis’s Home In Toluca Lake
Bette Davis was a Hollywood star that’s already gone but never forgotten. As an actress from the Golden Age of Hollywood, Davis came under the spotlight in the ’30s. Since then, she has secured over 100 film credits to her name. Here, we have a beautifully depicted postcard photo of one of Davis’ first homes, with a garden as beautiful as Davis herself.
The award-winning actress, along with her mother and sister, moved to this Tudor house in 1932. The piece of real estate, located in Toluca Lake Avenue, Los Angeles, was previously the property of actor Charles Farrell. Although a great house, the family soon relocated to Malibu.
