Justin Bieber has come a long way from being a YouTube sensation to a famous pop star whose career has been filled with a lot of ups and downs. In fact, many people have been criticizing him for his style evolution from baggy clothes to messy hair and a body almost covered in tattoos.
Many immediately poked fun of his appearance whenever he was spotted by the paparazzi, saying that he looked like he was homeless while others dismissed him as just another popstar abusing illegal substances. However, Justin is the most recent example of why it is not okay to judge a book by its cover.
Apparently, the singer is battling Lyme Disease and mononucleosis, although he assured fans that he was overcoming these health problems. The Sorry hitmaker took to Instagram to shush the naysayers who have been relentless in bullying him over his appearance by making the shocking revelation.
His case of serious mono, which is also known as the kissing disease, affects his energy levels, skin, and brain function, Justin explained. He hinted that he has been battling these for years, but he promised his fans that he will come back stronger than ever.
The 25-year-old also added that his fans will get to know the details about his health struggles in a documentary that will air on his YouTube channel. Sources have also said that Justin has faced frustration and disappointment in the past when doctors couldn’t figure out what he was suffering from.
It was only until late last year when they knew what was really going on with him. There were also reports that Justin was suffering from depression, a claim later confirmed by insiders.
However, they speculated that it was a result of his battle with Lyme disease, particularly because he initially couldn’t understand what was wrong with him. According to a study, depression and anxiety are common among those who are battling this serious illness.
In November, photos surfaced of Justin out and about a parking lot while hooked to an IV, but Beliebers shrugged it off as just a vitamin drip. But apparently, sources explained that this was part of his treatment for Lyme disease, which is contracted through tick bites.
Justin is not alone in the battle because it turns out that there is an average of 30,000 Americans suffering from this incurable condition. Speaking of which, it is unknown how the Canadian crooner contracted the disease.
