You may have heard of Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos, and/or Elon Musk. These men are the richest in the world. From pop culture to political presence, they have it all and do not even shy away from making the headlines now and then. You often hear about the men on the list of richest people in the world, but what about the women? Are there any rich women, or is this just another male-dominated field?
The list also includes women who share their fortune with siblings, children, or spouses. Most of the women on this list have inherited their fortune, like the Loreal Heiress, Francoise Bettencourt Meyers or Walmart Heiress Alice Walton, or Julia Koch. She inherited her fortune from the Koch Industry.
So, let’s talk about some of the richest ladies on the Forbes list.
1. Francoise Bettencourt Meyers
Meyers’s estimated net worth is said to be around $74.8 billion and it should not come as a surprise since she is the granddaughter of the founder of L’Oreal, the beauty company, and the heiress to it as well. The brand is a global success, with millions of products sold daily. It is not a shock that Meyers has made it to the list! She first made an appearance on the Forbes list in 2018 after the death of her mother, Liliane Bettencourt, who sat on the throne as the world’s wealthiest woman.
2. Alice Walton
Walton is the daughter of Sam Walton, the founder of the mega supermarket Walmart that is found in almost every state in the United States of America. In 2022, Walton’s net worth was bumped by $3.5 billion, thanks to the rising Walmart stock. Now, she stands at a staggering $65.3 billion! In 2020, Alice Walton enjoyed the top spot as the world’s richest woman but was soon dethroned by Francoise Bettencourt Meyers.
3. Julia Koch
Julia Koch’s net worth is said to be around $60 billion, which she received from the 42% stake in the Koch Industry after the death of her conservation husband, David Koch. She shares the fortune with her children and has half of the stake in the United States’ second-largest private company, while the other half is owned by Charles Koch, the chairman of the Koch Industry.
4. MacKenzie Scott
Scott received her title as one of the richest women after filing for a divorce from her ex-husband Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon. Since then, her net worth has gone up to $43.6 billion. However, Scott is not your typical elite; she has donated over $12.5 billion in 2 years.
5. Jacqueline Mars
Mars is the owner of one-third of Mars Incorporated, the brand behind your favorite candy M&Ms and pet food brand Pedigree. Her net worth is estimated to be around $31.7 billion.
While you might notice the difference between the net worth of the richest women and the richest men on the Forbes list, it is safe to say that they’ve got quite a fortune to their name.
