It was September 2020, when Chrissy shared the agonizing news of losing their son, Jack. The pregnancy loss was heart-wrenching for the couple. Taking to Instagram, she wrote: “We are in absolute agony to lose our son, Jack, in the middle of pregnancy. This is the pain that we have never experienced before.” The Instagram caption went on to say that it is one of the toughest times for the model and her significant other.
Nonetheless, John Legend was never recorded publicly talking about the agonizing experience that they went through as parents. Last week, John was interviewed by The Guardian. This is where he opened up about the “testing experience” that he and Chrissy went through.
The Tragedy Made the Couple Stronger and Ensured Who They Were As A Family
“It was, of course, one of the most heart-wrenching experiences that we had ever experienced before,” asserts the 43 years old singer. John Legend goes on to say: “Regardless of the gruesome nature of this tragedy, it was very testing. We came out of it strong. It ensured who we were as a family and parents. Being a father, you can tell how testing it is to come out of the grievance of losing your son. But it made us strong.”
Furthermore, the singer asserts that the tragedy of losing their son taught them a hard lesson: Always being there for each other. “This experience made us available to each other. And I think our relationship is stronger than it was ever before. It brought out the truest versions of us, both as a family and as a parent.”
John Legend and Chrissy Teigen Were “Amazed” By the Mass Response
Moving forward with the interview, the grammy-winning singer talks about sharing their hospital photos with their fans. “I was not thinking about making the news public. Chrissy wanted our fans to be aware of what is going on in our lives. So we shared the news. And we were amazed by the outpouring love and support from all around the world.”
Furthermore, John Legend notes that sharing the news with the public was a “brave decision of Chrissy” as it revealed how other families have gone through the same experience. “The brave decision of Chrissy enables others to share what they have gone through. People from all walks of life shared their stories and found relief while sharing their stories.
