If you’re someone who loves checking out filming locations, you’ll be thrilled to know that the house featured in the 90’s horror flick, The Silence of the Lambs, is now up for rent.
Horror fan, art director, and prop artist for movies, Chris Rowan, purchased the Buffalo Bill’s house (located in Perryopolis, Pennsylvania) in early 2021 for $290,000. After spending more than three months renovating the three-story four-bedroom home, Rowan has turned it into a fan hotspot! As of now, it offers overnight stays, fan tours, and special events like weddings (only if you want a gothic one of course!).
Here’s what more you can do at the place.
Rowan explains it all
In a press release held to announce the rental, Rowan said he’s offering fans an opportunity to come and stay at Buffalo Bill’s house for a few days, or even a week, and fulfill all their fantasies. He revealed visitors could book the place for a maximum of eight people at a time and use the main entrance (the same spot where Clarice (Jodie Foster) and Buffalo Bill (Ted Levine) meet for the first time) to enter the house. They can enjoy all kinds of artwork inside too, including portraits from the movie and the ones sent by fans. ICYDK, over the years fans have been sending in a lot of oil portraits of Buffalo Bill and Clarice, including a framed lifelike death’s head moth piece. Since Rowan didn’t want to waste those creations, he incorporated them into the space.
If you’re thinking of catching a glimpse of the house, the most impressive thing you can enjoy is the basement. Rowan has recreated the space in the basement where Bill had trapped Catherine in the movie and named it “Buffalo Bill’s Workshop of Horrors.” He’s added a vintage Singer sewing machine, a disco ball, a couple of dressed female mannequins, a full-length mirror, and of course, Bill’s signature Kimono dress for the guests’ use.
Another interesting thing Rowan did was tweak Bill’s game room. As you climb up the basement and walk into the attic, you’ll find a retro-inspired game room. Laden with 80s and 90s movies on DVD and VHS, this room features a large TV for guests’ entertainment. It also offers games like Pac-Man, Crazy Taxi, Galaga, Asteroids, NBA Jam, and Super Street Fighter for game nights and fun times. On top of all these action-packed games, there’s also a combination pool and air hockey table.
If you keep aside all the creepy stuff, there are a lot of fascinating things at the house too. The 1910 house boasts hardwood Oak floors, fireplaces, light works, and several sliding doors. It also flaunts an in-ground pool which is set to open in 2022.
So what’s your plan?
We’re sure that by now you’ve understood how beautiful and unique this space is. Well we can’t wait to catch a real glimpse of the house ASAP. What ‘bout you?
