Some people love a bit of thrill in their life, so they try to live an extraordinary life. One such man is Robb, who has ditched his house to live life on the road. He later revealed to a media outlet how he decided to turn his cargo van into a place to live on wheels. Robb said that he first came into life on wheels while recovering from colon cancer; he was in the hospital and couldn’t move for two weeks. During that time, he got hitched to the van life videos.
Robb And His Van Life
At first, Robb thought that the van life would cost him a fortune – but then he discovered cargo vans. He had different options, ranging from sprinter to school bus, with a price range of $4,000 to $20,000. This was affordable for him. So, after getting discharged from the hospital, Robb moved out of his apartment into a cargo van.
With time he transformed his van from a simple space to a beautiful tiny home. He furnished the cargo van with everything from a bed to a refrigerator. When Robb bought the van, it had a mattress and a minimal electric system. Now the van has been upgraded and has 18 different devices along with four lighting systems. Robb said that the van had come a long way, and he is proud of how it turned out.
After living in the van for some time, Robb realized how minimal possessions he needed to set up a comfortable place. The first thing he got was a storage unit but forgot what was in it. So, he thought of buying the things he needed. These days Robb’s van is parked near the East River in Brooklyn, New York. He loves the advantage of moving to a different location anytime with the things he loves. If you are bored of your street or city, you can simply drive and go elsewhere. Robb says it’s like I have a giant backpack that I can carry anywhere I go and sleep in it too.
Initially, when Robb shifted in his cargo, he was embarrassed to tell people that he lived in a van. But after sharing his experience with people, Robb realized, that people consider van life as an adventure. When Robb moved out of his apartment he used to lie to people about living in a van. If someone would ask Robb where he lived he would say it’s too far, but they’ll have to take a train to reach there. Now that he has gotten over his embarrassment, he has a new vision of it. People tell him that it is the coolest thing in the world, and he couldn’t be happier.
