With a mother like Joan Rivers, there was no way Melissa wasn’t going to make it big in Hollywood. After graduating from UPenn, the celebrity jumped headfirst into the industry, ready to make her mark. To aid her mission, she took up her mother’s surname. Her ambition led to her landing roles in TV series including The Comeback, Silk Stalkings, 90210, and Beverly Hills.
With decades in the industry, Melissa Rivers is now an award-winning producer, New York Times best-selling author, accomplished public speaker, entertainment journalist, equestrian, and animal advocate. And just like any other celebrity, she’s no stranger to the real estate game.
Melissa’s Latest Digs
Perhaps the Santa Monica views had gotten too monotonous for Melissa, maybe the 7,048 square foot mansion had started seeming too big, or maybe the ocean kept calling her back. But, in off-market deals, the celebrity recently offloaded her previous magnificent Santa Monica abode for $15.5 million and acquired this comparatively smaller, yet just as lavish, Pacific Palisades home for $7.77 million. The home was newly constructed in 2015.
Exploring the Property
Sitting on about one-fifth acres of land, the mansions within it spans almost 4,900 square feet. It consists of five bedrooms and five-and-a-half bathrooms spread across two floors. Once you enter through the main door, one side of the space showcases the formal living and dining rooms, while the other leads towards the study.
The informal fire-placed living room and dining spaces open into one another, with the kitchen boasting a magnificent marble center island. The floor is rounded up with a guest bedroom and ensuite bathroom. Glass sliding doors lead into the backyard.
The second floor includes three additional guest rooms with ensuite bathrooms. The main suite, which is the home’s highlight, boasts a glorious bathroom made with dove-gray walls and marble tiles in old Hollywood fashion, a spacious walk-in closet, and a fireplace.
Out in the backyard, tall hedges ensure skinny-dip privacy from prying eyes. Once again divided into two sets, one side of the space holds an aquamarine swimming pool complete with a sunbathing terrace and spa, while the other hosts an outdoor fireplace, built-in grill, and a sitting area.
Wrapping It Up
Melissa is no stranger to the real estate game, and neither to the Pacific Palisades area. Before moving to Santa Monica, she shared a home with her legendary mother for 25 years, until she passed away in 2014.
