You don’t need a magnifying glass to notice that wherever the royals go, controversy follows. Each of their actions has an opposite reaction (that’s especially true in Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s case, *wink*). Well, what can we say; that’s the price one pays for being a public figure, right?
Weeks after the controversial interview with Oprah Winfrey, Prince Harry, and Meghan Markle are gaining attention for an upcoming movie. Recently, Lifetime Movie Network held a press conference to announce a trilogy to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s past films, and as fans of the couple, we couldn’t be more excited.
Let’s take a detailed look.

Unfolding Lifetime’s press release
After producing two chartbuster movies – Harry & Meghan: A Royal Romance (2018) and Harry & Meghan: Becoming Royal (2019) – Lifetime movies are up for a third installment. Currently named Harry & Meghan: Escaping the Palace, the filming for the movie might kick-start by spring and it may air by fall 2021.
The movie revolves around Harry and Meghan’s decision to step down as working royals and uncovers the incidents that pushed the couple to take this bold decision. It will touch upon matters like Meghan’s growing isolation and sadness, incapability of the House of Windsor (also known as ‘The Firm’) to protect the Duke and Duchess from press attacks, and Harry’s fear of history repeating itself with Meghan and Archie. FYI, Harry has always feared that his wife and son will suffer the same fate as his late mother, Princess Diana.
The movie would also shed light upon family disputes between William and Harry, Kate and Meghan, and Harry and Prince Charles. It’s believed that the couple’s controversial Oprah interview would play a vital role in bringing the movie together.
Who will play Harry and Meghan in the third part?
The 2018 movie featured Parisa Fitz‑Henley and Murray Fraser as Meghan and Harry respectively, whereas the 2019 movie had Tiffany Smith and Charlie Field portraying the roles. Most likely, the third installment will feature new characters. Even though no official announcement regarding the casting has been made yet, we do know that Menhaj Huda and Scarlett Lacey would return as director and writer.

A brief look at the backdrop
In January 2020, Harry and Meghan had announced their plans to step back as senior working royals. Following their decision, the Buckingham Palace had given them a review period of one year to rethink their move. Later, in March 2020, the couple officially abdicated the royal life and moved to California to become financially independent.
On February 19, 2021, the Queen announced that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex wouldn’t return as working royals. She declared that the couple was no more entitled to a life of service by abandoning royal titles. Responding to the Queen’s statement, Harry and Meghan had said that everyone is entitled to live a life of service because it’s universal.
